Which woman/women have influenced you the most in your professional life?

I was highly influenced by several women in leadership that worked for AAA when I worked there. Names were Deeanna Beckman, Juanita Perry, and Cecilia Dent.

What has been your most significant contribution to Flagship’s history?

I think my most significant contribution to Flagship has been being a part of the WE RISE, our Women’s Employee Resource Group. I was able to help bring my educational benefits around the psychology of women to our group and help to educate women and wen about boundaries and self-care.

What mark do you hope to make at Flagship?

I would really like to be a part of a formal review process, as well as foster the culture of our employees being our greatest asset.

Which woman/women have influenced you the most in your professional life?

My Aunt Brenda Battle. My aunt works at UChicago Medicine where for the past 9+ years, she has led Michelle Obama’s Urban Health Initiative after Mrs. Obama relinquished her position to assume the role of First Lady. My aunt is very passionate about the work of improving the health and well-being of black and brown people, dismantling racism and breaking down structures that impede the opportunities for marginalized populations. She has been named one of the TOP 25 DIVERSITY LEADERS IN HEALTHCARE for 2021!

I am also influenced by my mother and the rest of my other aunts, as they continue to make changes in all industries as black, educated women.

What has been your most significant contribution to Flagship’s history?

My most significant contribution as of now is being a positive influence on our customer account and providing top-notch service to them. Since being here, the account has doubled in size and it's been a great experience bringing on new talented people to the team.

What mark do you hope to make at Flagship?

I hope to help in the growth of the company and bring my expertise and experiences to new upcoming managers.

Which woman/women have influenced you the most in your professional life?

Easy! The women I’ve worked alongside – they were/are brilliant, resilient, open to new ideas, and excited to make a difference each day. They juggle motherhood and marriage, adult learning, soccer schedules, and medical appointments - all while doing exceptional things for their companies. On the days (or weeks!) that I get discouraged or overwhelmed, they step in and step up.

What has been your most significant contribution to Flagship’s history?

Helping to develop Flagship’s Marketing Team has got to be right up there. They are so talented - with diverse skillsets, experience in a variety of industries, and creativity for days! They juggle 40 projects at any given time, but they bring their A-game to each one.

Our brand development over the past four years is a testament to the great work they’ve done, and I can’t wait to see what some of our newest team members will do this year!

Karen

KAREN C.

Culinary Operations Manager
Flagship Employee Since: 2019

Which woman/women have influenced you the most in your professional life?

My older sisters Kara and Kerry have been big influences and mentors in my professional career. They have helped me expand my knowledge and impact in many ways. Kara, a Saleforce sales executive, showed me how to make a corporate impact and how structure executes vision and challenges. Kerry, a successful restauranteur, showed me how to be accountable and work hard for your passions.

What has been your most significant contribution to Flagship’s history?

My biggest contribution is my drive and leadership. I seek challenges and try my best to give the tools and communications needed to my team so they can execute to their excellence.

A great quote I came across is, “Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence, and making sure that impact lasts in your absence.” - Sheryl Sandberg (COO, Facebook)
